Privacy Policy

Last updated · 13 October 2026

This policy explains what information Usman Bytes collects when you use this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how you can have it deleted. We collect as little as we can.

Who we are

Usman Bytes is a software development company based in Lahore, Pakistan. For anything about your data, email contact@usmanbytes.com.

What we collect

When you send the contact form: your name, email address, company (optional), the service you're interested in, budget and timeline (optional) and your message.

Alongside it, automatically:

  • a one-way, salted hash of your IP address — used only to stop spam and repeated submissions. We never store the IP address itself;
  • your browser's user-agent string;
  • the page you came from and any campaign (UTM) parameters in the link, so we know which pages help people find us.

When you apply for a job: your name, email address, phone number and profile link (optional), experience level, the role you applied for, your cover note and your CV, plus the same hashed IP address and user-agent as above. Your CV is stored in private storage that is not reachable from the internet, and is never sent by email.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address, where you signed up and when you confirmed.

Cookies and similar technologies

Nothing below runs until you choose in the cookie banner. You can accept or reject analytics and marketing separately, and change your mind at any time through Cookie settings at the bottom of every page — withdrawing removes those tools' cookies.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google, analytics): which pages are visited, roughly from where and on which device — as statistics.

We use Google's Consent Mode: until you agree, Google tags are not loaded at all. Your choice is stored in a cookie named ub_consent for 6 months, then we ask again.

To tell which page or campaign brought an enquiry, the site remembers the page you first landed on and any campaign (UTM) tags in that link for the current browser tab only (session storage — gone when you close the tab). It is sent to us only together with a contact form you choose to submit.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project — you ask us to, by sending the form.
  • To send you an automatic confirmation that we received your message, and to notify our team about it.
  • To consider your job application, contact you about it and keep it on file for future roles.
  • To protect the forms from spam and abuse.
  • To send the newsletter — only after you confirm your subscription by email.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for automated decisions about you.

Who else processes it

Your information is stored in our own database and sent through an email delivery provider so our replies reach you. These providers process data only on our instructions. If you allow them, the providers of the tools in the cookie section (Google) receive usage data from your browser directly, under their own privacy policies. Depending on where they operate, your information may be processed outside your country, with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: up to 24 months after you contact us, then deleted.
  • Messages identified as spam: 30 days.
  • Job applications and CVs: 12 months after the last activity on your application, then deleted together.
  • Records of emails we sent you: 90 days.
  • Newsletter sign-ups that were never confirmed: 30 days.

Deletion is automatic — a scheduled job removes expired records every day.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email contact@usmanbytes.com from the address you used, and we'll respond within 30 days. You can leave the newsletter at any time by replying to it or emailing us.

Security

The website is served over encrypted connections, our backend answers only requests signed by our own website server, and access to stored enquiries is limited to the people who need it to reply to you.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
