The challenge

Vehicle-wrapping and detailing workshops run on paper job sheets, phone photos and spreadsheets. Pre-existing damage gets disputed because nobody recorded it properly, quotes are typed by hand, and the week's schedule lives on a whiteboard. The workshop needed one app the team could use on the shop floor — on Android and iPhone — that keeps working when the garage Wi-Fi does not, and that still keeps every device in sync.

What we built

We built Wrapsta Go as a Flutter app with its own REST API. • Digital vehicle files — photos, a pre-damage protocol and the customer's signature captured on the device. • A drag-and-drop workshop calendar with a seven-color order system. • A QR-scannable digital vehicle pass the customer can open without an account. • A quote generator with a price calculator that produces DIN 5008 PDF letters. • Customer records (CRM) and an archive of finished jobs. • Offline-first: a local SQLite database is the source of truth on each device and syncs with the server when a connection is available.

Results

  • Android + iOSPlatformsOne Flutter codebase for both stores' devices.
  • Offline-firstArchitectureEvery screen reads and writes the local database first.

Offline first, by design

Workshops are full of metal, concrete and dead spots. Every screen in Wrapsta Go reads and writes a local SQLite database (Drift), so the app never waits for the network. A sync engine pulls changes since the last sync and pushes local edits, with deletion markers so a job removed on one device disappears on the others too.

An API built for sync

The companion API (NestJS, Prisma, MySQL) handles the shared company login with short-lived access tokens and rotating refresh tokens, email-code registration, and server-authoritative sync for customers, vehicles, quotes and the service catalogue. Photos upload and stream from the API, and one public endpoint serves the QR vehicle pass without a login.

Paperwork that looks professional

Quotes come out as DIN 5008 business letters — the German standard layout — straight from the price calculator, so a quote is ready while the customer is still at the counter.

Shipped as version 1

Version 1 of the app and the API went live in August 2026, together with the registration website and German legal pages.

A control room for the platform

Wrapsta Go now runs as a platform for many studios, operated from a bilingual dashboard (German and English). Data protection is built into the product: the dashboard shows counts, status and health by default, and a studio's customer data opens only after the operator records a written reason — which is logged. A daily housekeeping job deletes expired codes, sessions and removed studios after 30 days.

We run the servers

The API and the dashboard run on a VPS we set up and maintain: Nginx in front, TLS certificates from Let's Encrypt that renew themselves, the API under PM2, database migrations applied in a controlled release step, and a production smoke test after each release.
